PMS Escape

Can you escape from PMS (premenstrual syndrome) or are you destined to suffer from PMS and it's spectrum of symptoms for a few days every month. Escape from PMS or at least its symptoms, is in fact, possible for many women. For some, PMS escape may be achieved through minor changes to lifestyle and diet. For others, escape from the spectrum of PMS symptoms may require more drastic measures, with medication and hormonal manipulation.

PMS may only last for a few days every month, but for some, its impact on their life can be so severe that they dread those days arriving the next cycle. Escape from this seemingly unending cycle is vital. Abundant calcium, magnesium, vitamin E, vitamin B6 and vitamin B12, either directly from the diet or from good quality supplements are very helpful in minimizing many PMS symptoms and provide one means of escape, as can evening primrose oil and St. John's Wort, particularly for mood related symptoms. Eliminating caffeine and salty foods from the diet may provide an escape from the fluid retention and bloating common in PMS. Including lots of complex carbohydrates in the diet before and during PMS may help with anxiety and sugar cravings. Sleep is a great escape from any pain or discomfort, so get plenty of it during PMS if you can. Rest as much as you can and remain as comfortable as possible. Comfy clothes, a good sofa and hot water bottle should never be overlooked! If you need something a little stronger to escape from PMS pain and cramps however, over the counter acetaminophen and ibuprofen and similar medications are always an option. Whatever it takes, find the best way for you own escape from the symptoms of PMS and don't resign yourself to suffering from PMS for the rest of your menstruating life!
